I began physical therapy shortly after my hip replacement surgery. I thought it would be like going to the gym and doing a random set of exercises. But what surprised me was that the exercises were in a sequence. There was a logic to my therapy. Certain muscles have to be strengthened before others. I thus appreciated the role of the therapist in directing this sequence. In fact, I looked forward to seeing what routines would be added to the sequence as as a sign of my progress. I was also amazed at the variety of exercises there are for the development of muscle strength. Some can be very simple yet play and important role in the recovery process. Seeing the therapist constantly checking my chart and writing in my progress was important, as it assured me that I was on the right track and progress was happening. In the course of my therapy, I went from walker to cane and to walking by myself. I just knew when it was time to move from one to the other, that was the biggest surprise of my therapy! Thank you Peak Performance!
