Reporting live from the Dominican Republic…
Olmer wanted to explain to the kids and their parents how an idea turned into the organization 4 Luv Of The Game . Olmer told the parents how the founder Ryan, wanted to find ways to give to others, so he gathered his own baseball equipment and realized it wasn’t going to be enough to make a significant change. Determined, he went to multiple teams to see who would be willing to donate. Olmer also spoke on how baseball can teach us valuable qualities such as respect and being generous. He helped them realize that in the sport of baseball size doesn’t matter, so we should always avoid bullying one another. The kids showed genuine apreciation and Olmer also let them express themselves. He reported that it did not take long for his wife and him to begin playing a baseball game with the kids. At this point, the children did not yet receive their new gifts. They were playing with their handmade equipment.
As Olmer continued preaching his works in impoverished towns located in the country side, it has been easy to find kids who love the sport of baseball, but do not have the proper resources to purchase their own equipment. Many of these children have never played on a standard baseball field and had to accommodate by playing in disheveled sandals, roads with bottle caps and handmade equipment. Olmer established relations with a field owner, explaining the goals of the organization to to him. He thought it was a wonderful deed and allowed the game event to take place on his field. Olmer spread word throughout the community, extending the invitation to the event. Not only were the children eager to play, but they were in shock that they did not have access to this field for a substantial amount of time.
Prior to the big event, the donations were handed out to the children. The group of kids were paired not by skill level, but were reminded by Olmer that it wasn’t going to be a competition, just a game filled with pure fun. Some players were more advanced than others in the sport, but the skilled players worked with the beginners to remind them that it was a game of unity. Each pair of teams received a Peak Performance Coach on their side. The children had a blast playing on a baseball field for the first time and using their new equipment!
Stay on board for the next portion of Olmer’s journey as 4 Luv Of The Game uplifts more than just one community in the Dominican Republic.
