Liz Moritz, a Physical Therapist at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and women’s Hospital, shares her expertise to improve balance. Physical Therapy is an extremely effective method in improving the balance in an individual by targeting three main things. Not only does Physical Therapy work on the Vestibular system of in individual, but it also incorporates specific exercises that improve coordination; as well as the ability for the joints and brain to properly communicate. Such a crucial life function such as balance, should never be taken for granted. The elderly are most susceptible to imbalance and falling, but taking the proper precautions and seeking help will allow them to live a healthy lifestyle.
