It is imperative to know the proper safety rules and guidelines during game time in order to prevent injuries from occurring. On the field safety is crucial. While the players are on the field, this is the period where majority of the injuries are most likely to occur; a sprained ankle being one of the most common. Of course it is nearly impossible for an accident to never occur during a game, but being attentive and aware of your surroundings is beneficial in not only preventing some injuries, but reducing their impact. When assigned to the goalie position, you are at risk for colliding with the goal post and coming into contact with the ball. Staying alert while being in the goal is essential in protecting yourself throughout the game period. Prior to playing soccer, each player should make sure they are not only purchasing, but wearing the proper equipment to play throughout the game. It is critical to wear equipment which can prevent many injuries or lessen the initial impact. Although the patterns of weather is not preventable, players should pay extra attention to the conditions of the field. After or during a rain shower, the field will become extra slippery therefore, being extra cautious is important in protecting yourself in the changing of circumstances.
