Jan Ekstrand director of the football researcher group, was featured on a recent report that stated hamstring injuries has been one of the most common injuries in professional soccer for numerous years. The BJSM study that was conducted oversaw 36 soccer teams throughout 12 European countries during the time duration from 2001 to 2014. The results from the long and extensive study displayed that hamstring injuries were gradually increasing each consecutive year. The hamstring has been the common factor that is not decreasing unlike the other series of injuries that are declining over the years. Professionals have hypothesized that it may have to do with the intensity of the sport increasing. Ekstrand explained that hamstring injuries are also known as the sprinters injury which during the thirteen year study, a rise in the number of sprints during soccer games rose. The Nordic Hamstring Protocol has been designed to lower the risk of hamstring injuries by conditioning the muscles in the area. This method is not effective if you do not practice it, which few teams have incooperated. As the 2016 Olympic Season came to and end, drug doping had been a popular phenomenon which has made headlines several times. No beneficial outcomes can come from an athelete taking supplements.
