When we think of Hollywood, many of us invasion glamor, film making and the big screen. However, technology that is used in the the world of Hollywood is helping patients at Cambridge Hospital. Motion Capture Gait Analysis has been used to create the movements of numerous prominent movie characters. Addenbrook’s hospital which is affiliated with Cambridge Hospital, uses this technology to assist a wide variety of patents that are suffering from injuries to cerebral palsy. This technology is particularly effective in patients with prostheses; allowing medical professionals to monitor the force being applied to the patients legs to analyze if the protheses is working properly. After attaching a series of markers to the patents skin, the patient will continue to walk as the computers are designing an overall 3D projection of the individuals gait and balance data. Patients found it inspiring and motivational to be able to have an actual visual of their condition and how change can be achieved. Addenbrooke’s is the first hospital in the East of England to have access to this advanced technology that is continuing to benefit many patients suffering from a plethora of conditions.
