In almost every sport, running is required either during the games and/or during practices. Many injuries occur while running and can happen out of nowhere. Some of the most common running injuries are runners knee (the most common running injury), sprains, hamstring problems, stress fractures, shin splints, and Achilles tendinitis. Luckily, there are techniques that can be done or improved to help avoid obtaining these injuries.
One of the most important things to do before and after running is to make sure you always stretch. Stretching loosens the muscles in your body. Soreness is very common after going for a run so it is important to know the difference between an injury and just being sore. Everyone’s foot is different so it is important to make sure that you are wearing the proper quality running shoes that are right for you. Make sure to gradually increase your speed and distance. It is important to also have rest days so that your body can have time to recover. Having an efficient running form is essential to avoid injuries and keep your body healthy.
By using these techniques you are sure to be less at risk for obtaining an injury while running!
