We absolutely love hearing feedback from our patients. John B. recently completed his vertigo treatment with Robin in our Lynbrook office and sent us his own account of recovery:
My experience at Peak Performance PT and their Balance For Life program was excellent! I first experienced vertigo 2 years ago at the age of 32. It was a scary experience, I had visited an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist) and was told that I had BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). Unfortunately, I wasn’t given much instruction as to how to get rid of it at the time, but eventually (and luckily) after a month and a half it went away.
It was a very frustrating and nerve-racking time to say the least. When it happened again a few months ago, I had a feeling that it would take a while to resolve itself. Finally, after 2 months of dizziness, I was fed up with the needless suffering, so I went to a neurologist and they recommended Peak Performance for Vestibular Therapy.
From the moment I walked in, my therapist, Robin, thoroughly explained what was going on inside my inner ear and assured me that it was treatable, often times in 1 or 2 sessions! I liked the fact that the exam was thorough and that she was trying to pinpoint exactly which part of the anatomy of the inner ear was affected. Once the diagnosis was confirmed to be BPPV (left-sided), the treatment followed. I was nervous because I didn’t want to experience the dizziness during the treatment, but in all honesty it wasn’t that bad and Robin guided me with empathy and professionalism throughout the whole process.
It was well worth the effort! After following Robin’s suggestion to take it easy the rest of the day and test to see if the treatment worked at night, I can tell you as I sit here symptom free that indeed it did! I want to thank Robin and the whole team of Vestibular Therapists at Peak Performance. I came to them feeling a bit helpless to fix my vertigo and balance issues; what I left with was relief, confidence and self-empowerment!
