Numerous Americans visit their primary health care physician in order to seek relief from their back pain. However, the foods you are consuming may be hurting your back. Spending a significant amount of time on his feet, the owner of an italian restaurant was suffering from chronic back pain, struggling to get through the work day. Using prescription drugs to suppress the pain, he also underwent a surgery. However, a few years later his pain back paint returned and it was crippling. According to Judy Fulop, a naturopathic practitioner at Northwestern, explained that a plethora of foods can contribute to inflammation in the intestines that spreads. The reaction within the intestines allows for larger molecules to pass through and move to other areas of the body like joints. She performed a series of sensitivity test on her patient which she found that his leading cause of back pain came from his diet. He now limits the amount of eggs, dairy and wheat, while increasing his intake of magnesium, salmon and spinach, all nutrient rich foods. Magnesium has been proven extremely effective in reducing the tension in the muscle that is a result of pain. Creating a more nutrient dense and healthy diet has helped him not only combat his back pain, but to stop taking his medication.
