Reporting live from the Dominican Republic….
It was an emotional weekend in the Dominican Republic for Olmer. Returning to Palmar, Olmer brought over necessary equipment to play baseball. He distributed gloves, bats, baseballs and some Peak Performance shirts collected from 4 Luv of The Game. Prior to handing out the surprises to the children, Olmer asked the group the equipment they used to play baseball. The wooden bats they presented were not only hazardous to play with, but were easily broken during game time.
Olmer had the opperunity to meet with a baseball coach that managed several teams of varying age groups and a proper baseball field. Together they collaborated their ideas in order to provide those children in the league donations from 4 Luv of The Game. He also permitted the children from the local town to play on his baseball field. Olmer continued to give out these cherished donations throughout the community. His mission was to locate the children that really needed the equipment in an organized manor. In doing so, Olmer saw the happiness and unity being spread in the community and amongst the kids.
Olmer extended his travels visiting an orphanage home foundation called Red De Miscericordia( a safe haven net of mercy). The orphanage was located in a town called La Otra Banda, Dominican Republic. This specific foundation specializes in housing and educating orphan kids who have been sexually abused, suffered physical abuse and lived on the streets. Olga Noboa, a noble women, has been assisting children with these needs for over twenty years. Olga was very touched with the phone call she received from Olmer. She expressed that it was exactly what they needed. They created a soccer field because they were aware that soccer did not require many items to play. Olga stated how the children really wanted to play baseball, but did not have the equipment available to them. Following, Olmer was ready to hand out the equipment to the kids. Olmer reported that the expressions on the children’s faces were priceless as they received their equipment during their allotted recess time.
FINAL RESULTS: As Olmers Journey came to an end, twenty five deluxe corrugated moving boxes filled with equipment were collected for the Organization 4 Luv of The Game. The donations made its way around the Dominican Republic impacting the lives of many young children. The kids who share a love and passion for the sport of baseball, were now able to play with the proper equipment.
